The Shocking Truth About Getting Abs

Most people dream of having a rock-hard six-pack, but what exactly are the pros and cons of having impressive abs? Whether you want to have a stronger core, are looking to tackle a new fitness challenge, or just want to look like the gorgeous influencers on social media who flaunt their chiseled body, there are different motivations for having a six-pack. However, there are some things that only six-pack owners can truly understand.

1.If no one can see them, what’s the point?

You might think that having the perfect six-pack will skyrocket your self-esteem, and you’ll have an amazing body image for the rest of your life. But one man who worked hard on his body said that getting a visibly stronger chest, arms, and shoulders actually improved his confidence more since there are not many opportunities to take your shirt off without getting weird looks.

In fact, many guys felt the same. There are limited daily scenarios when you can go shirtless. It’s the same reason why people who wear pants daily at work might not invest as much time working on their legs.

Sure, whoever sees you in the bedroom (or at the pool) might appreciate the eye candy, but no one else will know about all the work you put in.

2. They’re very hard to attain

Many people have toned stomachs or hard bellies, but to get a six-pack specifically, you’ll have to work out very hard and practice specific workout moves. Additionally, much of it is genetics – some people are naturally prone to six-packs while others have to put in tons of work on a weekly basis and go on a strict diet to maintain their six-pack.

3. It’s worth it for their partners…but sometimes not

At those moments, when they do get to take their shirts off for their significant others, the hard work was worth it. People with six-packs reported loving the reaction they would get from their partners seeing, appreciating, and touching their sculpted bodies. Another person said that their six-pack negatively impacted his love life, however. The reason? Abs boosted their ego, which, as a result, made them have higher standards for girls and, hence, led to less bedroom action because their standards were so high.

4. Abs can make you better in bed

One shocking side effect of having a six-pack and training your abs? It might make you better in bed. When you put in the work to build those abs, it comes with a side of endurance, which translates to skills in the bedroom. Some men say that when their partner needs them to maintain a certain speed or rhythm, they don’t need to take a break, slow down, or adjust anything. The unexpected results from that endurance training (plus the visuals your partner is getting) is a pretty great motivation for staying fit.
