The Office is often compared to Friends, Community, and even Sex and the City. And rightfully so, as all these shows have become iconic and are still popular years after airing their last episodes.
In a small paper company office in Scranton, the workers are forced to endure a slew of shenanigans from their idiot boss as well as each other. This story is dosed with so much cringe-worthy yet sparkling humor that the jokes still hit even after ten years after the show’s end.
The Office was shot in a mockumentary style, with a shaking camera and a lot of lingering shots. Such an unusual approach was strange to look at at first, and due to low ratings, the showrunners almost canceled the series. Until suddenly, the audience developed a taste for this medium, and the Dunder Mifflin came back to life once again.
So let’s take a look at the best part of the show – the actors, and see how they’re holding up these days.
1. John Krasinski
After the Office, Krasinski became a successful screenwriter and director, and of course, he kept appearing on-screen in movies like A Quiet Place and the latest Marvel hit — Dr. Strange and the Multiverse of Madness.
2. Steve Carell
The role of Michael Scott brought Carell the Golden Globe Award, which he added to his collection. After seven seasons, the actor left the Office and started appearing in more movies, including The Incredible Burt Wonderstone, Anchorman 2, and the whole Despicable Me franchise.
3. Jenna Fischer
Secretary Pam Beesley was probably the sanest person in the Office, and after the series ended, Jenna continued her acting career. She starred in You, Me and the Apocalypse, The Giant Mechanical Man, and Splitting Up Together.
4. Rainn Wilson
Dwight Schrute was one of the funniest characters in the entire show, especially when he interacted with Jim. Amidst filming the Office, Wilson starred in one of the most underrated films of all time – Super, but after the series finale, the job offers kept coming in: voice acting gigs, TV show roles, and of course, full-feature projects, including Dark Winds, Backstrom, and Utopia to name a few.
5. Mindy Kaling
Mindy’s career blossomed long before she started playing an office worker named Kelly, but that role gave her a nice boost either way. After the series finale, one of her most memorable roles was in The Mindy Project. Today she is testing her mettle as a producer on Never Have I Ever.
6. Ed Helms
Was it the Office that made Ed famous or the Hangover? Or maybe it’s both? Either way, the world got to see Helms from both sides of the spectrum, and we loved it. After rounding up the third Hangover movie, Ed decided to relax, hence why there had been few projects. But these days, he seems to be back in action, starring in shows like Rutherford Falls and BoJack Horseman.
7. Angela Kinsey
To say that Angela has been busy over the past ten years is to say nothing. The Hotwives of Orlando, New Girl, Impress Me, and Fresh Off the Boat are once a handful of noteworthy projects that featured Kinsley. In 2021 she started an animated series based on her podcast “Office Ladies” with Jenna Fischer, which for some reason, wasn’t as popular as she would have wanted.
8. Leslie David Baker
Baker, who played Stanley in the Office, definitely became a spirit animal for millions of “no-BS” viewers all around the world. His post-Office career mainly consisted of small TV roles and cameos, but since he lent his voice to officer McPiggy from Captain Underpants, his career seems to have picked up a bit. Living the Dream, Doug Unplugs, and The Happytime Murders are good signs that Leslie’s coming back!
9. Ellie Kemper
Despite being a late addition to the series, Ellie’s character Erin, shit was a godsend. Although, we could do without the whole Erin/Andy sub-plot. Either way, today, Ellie is better known for portraying Kimmy from the critically acclaimed Netflix series Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.
