Kylie Jenner is continually in the headlines for one reason or another. And when something transpires with Kylie, her fans are always the first to hop on board and support her. She has a massive following, and they always create a buzz about what she is doing next. This is especially true for her fashion events and red carpet appearances. She is often seen in all kinds of fashionable styles, from high fashion, red carpet looks to street style and dressed down outfits. As of late, she is making a swirl in the media for her looks at Paris Fashion Week, and it is all anyone can talk about. But while she is usually praised for her fashion choices, this particular appearance and outfit was not received very well. Back in 2022, Kylie sported an off-white gown for the Met Gala. She paired it with bold accessories, like a white baseball cap with lace over her face. She went on to explain on YouTube that she wore the ensemble to honor her late friend and designer Virgil Abloh. “The only reason I came to the Met this year, to be honest, I decided really last minute I wasn’t gonna go,” Kylie said. “I was like, ‘Unless I can go and honor Virgil’ and [his wife] Shannon would want me to go and I would wear Off-White, then that’s the only reason I would go today. To honor him,” she said. Many people loved her dedication outfit to Virgil Abloh and said that her ensemble looked like she was dressed as a bride.
When she attended Paris Fashion Week, she decided on an even more attention grabbing outfit. But this time, it is not for the best kind of attention. Specifically, she attended the Schiaparelli Haute Couture show in this outfit, an event that is also a part of Paris Fashion Week. And wore a simple fitted black gown — but the real centerpiece of the ensemble was a stuffed lion’s head that rested on her shoulder and chest. She shared an Instagram photo to commemorate her look. Her caption read: “BEAUTY AND THE BEAST. thank you @danielroseberry and @schiaparelli for such a special morning,” she wrote. “Wow i loved wearing this faux art creation constructed by hand using manmade materials. beautiful beautiful.”
Kylie made a point to reassure everyone that the lion’s head was totally man made, and not a real head of a lion. Nonetheless, much of the public are not really vibing with her outfit. Some of her fans, especially those who are also animal lovers, were vocal about their distaste of the lion’s head focal point. One fan wrote, “Kylie I love your style but this is wrong, this promotes animal cruelty. It is a terrible fashion mistake! Please stop!” Another fan said, “It’s a NO for me. When these beautiful creatures are actually being hunted we probably shouldn’t glamorize it.”
Some people were supportive, with comments like, “Big Leo Energyyyyy,” and “My little lioness, you are so beautiful.” Bult the majority of the comments from this post were condemning her for basically promoting game hunting. One person commented, “This Is disturbing and looks like you are encouraging game hunting of these majestic animals. Not a fan at all of this collection. This isn’t art.” Others said, “Animals are not accessories,” and “Stop promoting animal cruelty.”
She has been in hot water before regarding animal related fashion choices. She was condemned by PETA in 2015 for painting her dog’s nails.
