Ivanka Trump’s Most Controversial Outfits

Ivanka Trump’s outfits are never really too revealing, but it doesn’t stop her from making some pretty controversial choices when it comes to her wardrobe. She’s either flashing her lavish lifestyle, promoting her own products, or just wearing something that goes against the message she seems to be pushing. Let’s take a look at some of her most controversial fashion faux-pas.

1. The Silver Dress

When you first look at it, you might think it’s a bit garish, but you know, she’s a Trump so it’s not exactly shocking. But it’s the context that matters. She posted a photo of this dress days after Donald Trump announced the Muslim Ban, which resulted in children being separated from their parents. People were very quick to compare Ivanka’s lavish $5000 Carolina Hererra dress with kids wearing sheets of aluminum foil for warmth to point out the wealth inequality.

2. The Not American Dress

So, there are a few problems with this dress. This is a dress that cost around $2000 by a French designer Roland Mouret, it was made in the UK. And Ivanka wore it to her father’s first address to the Congress, in which he pushed the message of buying American things made in America by Americans.

3. The Self-Promotion Dress

Ivanka wore this blush-colored dress to her RNC speech, and overall it would’ve been fine. But she then chose to make a bunch of money on it by posting a link to it on her Twitter saying you can buy a dress like the one she wore if you click through. That was an affiliate link, meaning she was making money off of every single purchase made through that link. That’s just greedy considering her wealth and status.

4. The Bathrobe Coat

This coat made everyone wonder if Ivanka perhaps forgot to take off her bathrobe before going outside. Does it cost almost $1000? Yes. But is it stylish and appropriate attire for work? Not really. It’s just ridiculous and shows a lack of fashion sense.

5. The COVID-19 Dress

It’s probably meant to be a floral print, but this was a pre-lockdown time and Ivanka was visiting the Taj Mahal with her husband and posted this photo. All we could think of in 2020 was “oh man, that’s a perfect Covid dress, those angry red spiky things look just like the COVID-19 virus cells”.

6. Too Casual For Buckingham Palace

Ivanka Trump, along with her family, was lucky enough to visit Buckingham Palace and dine alongside British Royalty at the state banquet. This is a white tie event, which means you’re supposed to dress in an evening gown. Like Kate Middleton was not only in a ruffled gown but also in a tiara, with a sash and massive sapphire earring. But Ivanka showed up in a collared dress with floral embellishments that looked like it would fit in at a picnic, but not at the state banquet.

7. The Not Relatable Dress

Ivanka was pushing the tax cut and it looked pretty funny to see her trying to appeal to families in need when she was wearing a dress that cost over $2000. Sure, the Tax Cut and Jobs Act was also appealing for those who were already rich, but that’s not her main audience, is it?

8. The Gilead Green Dress

Fans of The Handmaid’s Tale have noticed that Ivanka has a dress that’s very similar in shade and cut to the dress Serena Joy wears on the show as the pretty complicit and anti-feminist First Lady of Gilead. Complicit and anti-feminist seems pretty fitting for Ivanka, and so’s the dress really.
